Camp (le)

Jean-Frédéric De Hasque, Belgium, 2012, HDV, 90 minutes

The Agamé refugee camp in Benin no longer gives the impression of being a camp. Walking along the alleyways and following the residents in their daily activities, one sees the traces that bear witness to the real nature of the site and also the lives of the men and women who are transforming the camp into a village. Daily life is split between the fear of having to leave and the building of houses to fill the void, to reassure themselves by creating an environ- ment that recalls the one they have left.
