Olivier Smolders

Olivier Smolders likes to describe as "Born 04/01/56 in Leopoldville, Romance Philology licensed to UCL, conducting radio television film INSAS, founder of the Beetle films, producer, screenwriter and film director, professor at INSAS and ISV, a lecturer at the University of Liege, tightrope walker, fly fisherman, agnostic dissident, author of essays on literature and cinema, member of the friendly Zutistes. "Since 1984, Olivier Smolders is known for sober shorts, of great aesthetic rigor, often in black and white, deep and morbid themes (love related death, disturbing intimate confessions) that he made small team. These films, close to the new literary, received many awards internationally. In 2005 released his first feature film, a dreamlike color film on the theme of metamorphosis, Black Night (89 minutes). In a complex narrative structure, shot / calibrated digital (HD), accompanied by a soundtrack that emphasizes the atmosphere over voices, the film received a mixed reception from critics.
